You See Red is a company created to showcase the work of a group of graphic designers and artists in an innovative and commercial way and represents a fusion of artist, gallery and publisher.

In keeping with our background and training in graphic design, we draw inspiration from the simple line work and bold colour of the best ‘graphic’ art; from the clarity of travel posters of the 20’s and 30’s through the strength of wartime information graphics and classic cartoon drawings to the bright colour and abstraction of op and pop art.

Although our influences include a truly eclectic range of artists and designers, there is a thread running through our work that forms the backbone of all of the design produced by You See Red. All work is distilled and crafted to produce clean descriptive lines and crisp, bold colour to result in powerful, contemporary prints and products – it is this ‘brief’ that underpins each piece in our collection.

This structure is not intended to be a straightjacket and we draw our inspiration from a huge variety of sources. The design we produce is not developed to ‘meet a market’, but because we are are inspired by a subject, a pattern or something from the world around us.

There is no computer trickery, standard filters or ‘effects’ applied to existing photographs or images, every design starts as ideas which are sketched, developed and discussed in a conventional way, but the method of production makes use of the latest digital technology with each design being translated into a complex vector-based format which allows for the fine-tuning of lines and colours by each designer/artist, and results in a file which can be printed as extremely high-resolution giclée or silk screen prints and scaled to any size without loss of quality or definition.

It is this combination of original work combined with digital production methods, allied to the growth of opportunities with the internet that has led to creation of the You See Red and this website.

As well as producing original work in an innovative way, we also have an in-depth understanding of the importance of attention to detail, and believe in applying the highest possible standards to every part of the production process, whatever the product, so that anything which carries the You See Red name has a quality that we are proud of.

Additionally, we want to use recyclable or sustainable materials in the manufacture and packaging of our products whenever we can. Wherever possible, we will avoid the use of plastics in favour of paper and card.
